Day 17. The Planet Zarlon

Monday 16th August
34 Miles!

Samoreau by the Seine, probably a lovely campsite when it isn't raining

James
Mission to escape the rain!
34 miles from the pouring rain at Samoreau to a dry Boulancourt =)

Susie
We paid to check the weather on my phone and discovered it improved rapidly further south, so we decided to try to outrun the rain. We skipped visiting Fontainbleau Castle and headed south.

Sandwiches by Le Pont de Moret

Alfred Sisley's version (as displayed on a sign)

On the way the rain slowly stopped and we managed to stop and see some cool sites.

The weather improved as the day went on, first along the Seine..

View of the watermill from the bridge

From the bridge

Pretty (empty) towns along the Seine

then across hills into a forest with weird craggy rocks (where James bruised his arm)

A very jungley forest in the rain

The Planet Zarlon

Weird Rocks called Dame Jouanne

One was an area of forest with huge odd rocks, the other a ruined church.

A church that was half ruined, half working

then across open hills and unusual countryside- open flat plains with hills with towns on top of each hill- very defensive looking.

A town (behind the trees) on top of a hill surrounded by plains

We could see sun in the distance, and reached it just before the sun set. The campsite at Boulancourt is nice, civilised and very big.

More Sunflowers

An unnecessarily large gate to the small village on Boulaincourt

We could see sun in the distance, and reached it just before the sun set. The campsite at Boulancourt is nice, civilised and very big.

When we arrived the sun came out for the first time
and we had about 10 minutes sun before it set

Campsite was nice and dry, Mission complete!
